Clinical Applications

The  mapping of the complete human genome has led to an explosion in research using this new information.  The emerging field of ‘Personalised Medicine’ is gradually enabling Clinicians to more precisly target approriate therapies based on an individual’s own DNA blueprint.

Gene Profiling is a controversial new area which gives individuals and their Clinicians a window into their particular DNA strengths and weaknesses.  Typically, a small number of genes is selected for profiling.  These genes are typically grouped into functional categories related to such aspects as inflammation, oxidative stress, detoxification and other biochemical functions which can predispose individuals to certain types of illness.
